Meeting Summary
In a Nutshell
On Friday, December 9th, members of the Cardano community who are focused on governance tooling came together to discuss major challenges and brainstorm potential solutions for how the group could collaborate on improving governance processes and developing community-led tools and platforms. The meeting was an opportunity for the participants to get to know each other, share their perspectives, and identify areas where they can work together to support the growth of the Cardano ecosystem.
Meeting Highlights
CIPs, CPSs & Project Catalyst
Audit & Reviews
This may have been the most discussed topic in the first Roundtable. There are currently two main issues in regard to Proposal Audit and review at the CIP & Catalyst process
At the CIP environment:
Not many reviewers ( ~20 CIP reviewers ), but the technical expertise and knowledge of reviewers has a very high quality. Further, proper reviews may take in some cases up to several months. The CIP review process does not have any available funding resources to reward and sustain crucial high quality assessments of submitted CIPs.
At Catalyst
High Amount of Proposal Assessors ( ~1000 ), but the technical expertise and knowledge of Assessors is at general very high low and lacks a proper Assessment of strongly technical submitted Proposals as Project Catalyst
With a look on the CPS process
At the current state, there seems to be a lack of proper knowledge, purpose and use cases for Cardano Problem Statements within the Cardano Community
Caused Problem
The review process for technical proposals at Project Catalyst is inadequate, as Proposal Assessors lack the necessary technical expertise to properly assess the proposals. This leads to low ratings and a lack of support for these proposals from voters, which in turn prevents developers from effectively participating in Project Catalyst and securing funding for their proposals which is causing damage to strongly technical projects and proposals and hindering further and effective progress.
Potential solutions could go in the direction of introducing CIP reviewers as Proposal Assessors to Project Catalyst to ensure high quality assessments of strongly tech typed Catalyst Proposals.
Additional it may be possible to submit proposals to enable and reward CIP reviewers for their work on CIPs
For future steps, we could envision first effective bridges and connections between CPSs, CIPs and Catalyst environements to take advantage of taking the best from each part and to combine these into a collective framework which could allow on-spot processes to ideate, design, submit and assess/review proposals across multiple environments

Next steps:
Participants had strong consensus on:
Recording future Roundtable meetings and publish recordings to the wider Community
Uniting each two weeks for a 1 hour Roundtable call to discuss and align on most relevant topics
Roundtable meetings should address one specific question per meeting
Agenda should be collectively defined by Roundtable participants
Roundtable meetings should be transcribed
There should be a documentation of the Roundtable meetings and activities
To have a space for communication in between the meetings, we would need to set up a category/channels. We envision to use the current CIP Discord server
Roundtable should focus,at least at this early stage, on the ideation & generation of CPS’s ( Cardano Problem Statements )
Todo

How to reward Roundtable engagement, can we use Bridge Builders - Governance Events proposal to incentivise and reward certain engagements ?
